Hi all! I've been following Skunkie's projects for a few months now and plan on building a class A SET this winter. Just don't know which one yet but am leaning towards a KT88 such as the one that BlueGlow posted.
I retired three years ago after putting in 40 years with a small aerospace research firm. My last 20 years as IT Director. I have always had a keen interest in electronics, audio, computers, etc. Since retiring I have become involved in woodworking (something completely different). And of course a lot of golf when weather permits. I've done quite a few Heathkits eons ago such as oscilloscope, stereo receiver, stereo power amp. I built one of the first IMSAI 8080 microprocessor kits in the early 70's and still have it in the attic. I piddle quite a bit with Arduinos since I just can't seem to get by computer programming and electronics background out of my system.
I also built a set of Speakerlab K-Horn clones and am currently driving them with a NAD 3020 in my wood shop. I am mostly streaming music from a Raspberry PI running Volumio. I just recently pulled my old Technics 1100 turntable with SME 3009 tonearm down from the attic and it amazingly still works! So, my plan is to replace the NAD with a tube amp and dust off some old records. My hearing is not what it used to be, but I think the K-Horns still sound OK. First project for now it to re-cap the crossovers.
Please excuse the long introduction.

I also share your love for microprocessors, I play around with Arduino stuff myself :)
