Hello everyone,
After I retired at the end of 21, I started repairing PS4's and Xbox one's as a hobby.
I was looking for a better phono preamp than my class A SS amp for a low output MC cartridge.
This led me to Rogue Audio as they were famous for their step-up transformers and tube phono pre-amps.
It (Ares II) sounded awesome and that sent me in search of the 'tube sound'.
I just so happened to own a Dynaco ST-70 that I purchased as a youth in 73 for about $100.
It was sitting in a closet since 99.
So, I rebuilt the ST-70 and then a second one so I could run as mono-blocks.
Very happy with the result which is better sounding than the original which wasn't bad.
I am currently learning to design and build a line tube amp to drive mostly SS gear.
This site has taught me a lot about point-to-point wiring which I sorely needed to improve on.
Time to solder on my project.
Later,
Richard
