Hello All,
I have been following a lot of the conversations on the Tube Amp diy builds and I am now ready to build one. I am following the 300B-BOM list, however there are 4 items not available

Question#2 - Edcore seems to be out of stock for the transformers till April of 2022, what alternatives can I use without losing the visual appeal of Edcore transformers.

Appreciate your help and input.
thanks, that is very helpful. I love the channel
Understanding that availability and prices are subject to change, can you share approximate cost of your builds? I want to plan and budget and this project could get expensive quickly. Love the channel.
Hi all, and congratulations for such an inspirational work, Skunkie. You may check these tests of Hammond se outputs here : http://jelabsarch.blogspot.com/2012/07/hammond-125ese-part-2.html . I think they are just perfect for this kind of project. The same have been used by a friend on a SE45 and the result is very good. The great plus of these is the ability to play with numerous input impedance scenari.
Any passive component, especially resistors, can be replaced with other brands or models with the same specs as long as they are the same type, i.e. metal film. On the caps, I do recommend "audio grade" when used on the cathode of a tube. Hammond makes transformers but, especially the output transformers, I have no way to know if they would sound the same. I know in the past some of them had "issues" and would hate to recommend something I haven't used. If you looked at some of the higher end offerings, you would probably be safe but more $$. Electra-print or Heyboer might be able to get some made faster as well? I don't know and have never used them. On the power transformer, you just need to ensure the voltages are the same and remember while the 6SN7 tubes can share a heater winding, each 300B tube needs its own filament winding. You would probably need to get a dual filament heater transformer and use the one in the power transformer for the driver tubes. The Edcor transformers are always a long wait.
