I got infected with the tube amplifier virus and would like to build one myself. No experience however... Though with the help of Stephe's wonderful videos and BOM info I feel rather confident. The room I play music in is rather small, about 15 square metres. The loudspeakers I have in mind will be a pair of monitors, F500 or something similar.
Do you think the EL34-6sq7 will be something for me or the 5751/EL34? Or do you have further suggestions?
Hi George, thanks for the loudspeaker suggestion!
I think we are about the same age so your choice could be mine as well 😊. The Reisong A10 is about 750 ( Dollars) in the Netherlands at the moment, including all costs. The A12 just a little bit more. After adding some modifications the price of it will be slightly more.
The Elekit TU-8600S is much more , as you know. But I just came across a secondhand one
Price after some negotiating could be 1500 Dollars. Tempting.
Helpful video! That’ll make the A10/12 interesting as well. Not an easy choice. What would you do?
Hi George,
What a useful suggestion to try the 6v6 in the A-10. You have nice plans for the upcoming winter! I contacted the Dutch representative of Elekit. The TU-8150 is not sold any longer. They suggested the TU-8400 if I want to use the 6v6. That amp however is not sold in the Netherlands yet. It will arrive any moment. Thanks for the link to Cheaptubeaudio!
Hi George,
Thanks for your support and confidence! As a complete beginner I am happy with your advice. As far as I can see the instructions are on paper only. There are some YouTube clips but they don’t help much. I will contact the Dutch company that sells the kits (I live in the Netherlands). There might be some video support.
Matt...................
Elekit kits seem to get good reviews.
North American distributor:
In Your case the TU-8400

Honestly, a little rich for me, and not exactly traditional, but maybe to your liking?
Here is what I would do.................
I would study up on the Reisong A-10 mods, even watching the You-tube videos.
And then if I felt confident that I could do that, I would accumulate the necessary tools, and an A-10 (Amazon $400 US) and have at it.
That will get your feet wet and give you a working EL34 amplifier for a small price (less that half the cost of a scratch built).
