I Thought Tube Amps Were Simple?

I guess this explains why there are no Chinese clone amplifiers based on Bob Carver's designs: (Note: This schematic is for the 1988 'Silver Seven' that used 14 KT88 tubes and was rated at 375 watts into 8 ohms. The specs and photo are for the 2014 'Silver Seven 700' that uses 20 KT120 tubes):

Bias: Rear panel potentiometer adjustment

Source Impedance: 1.7 ohms

Speaker Output Taps: 2, 4, and 8 ohms. (Designed to drive any load 0.75-ohm and higher)

He has always pushed the design boundaries for amps. His 1971 350w per channel Coffee Can Amp that he made for that years Macintosh Amplifier Clinic tripped the Clinic locations circuit breakers due to it drawing so much current. It didn't have a power transformer inside the amp as it was designed to somehow utilize the mains transformer located on the nearest power pole.

Wow! An electric heater AND amp in one go! Nothing beats a multifunction device. And if you are a labyrinth enthusiast, you can use the schematic to build a modern version of the Minotaur's lair. Total genius, this.

Can you imagine the heating issues with this setup. Speaking of heat, how is the weather down under? If you have any difficulty ordering from Mouser or any other online store in America, let me know. It would be easy for me to order whatever you need than send it to your place.

Thanks for the offer but I have no issues ordering from Mouser. We are just entering autumn and where I live, Canberra, has a lot of Northern hemisphere trees planted around the city so we get the full 'fall' experience. That said, it was 99.3ºF here last Sunday but only 71.8ºF on Monday. At least we didn't have bushfires this year.

KT88 should be at least 4 inches apart from each other. Clearly, this is not the case.

Agreed, I don't care what Carver claims, this is not a good way to lay out a tube amp.
