KT120 SE Monoblock project

Hi Steph 'n' all.

Started to collect parts for this project. Regarding the output transformers. I'm in Melbourne Australia. Unfortunately, the cost of shipping from the States will most likely render the Thermionic option too expensive. Would you please provide the full specification of the OT's. Current schematic just says 4.3K 25W. Is that it?

I live in NSW. Thermionic Labs are the cheapest for freight and exchange rates for anyone living in Asia and Australia. Just bought the output transformers and the freight was 90 Euro compared to about $500 US. I Recomend Thermionic Labs for all transformers given their location in Greece.

Around 5K and UL taps at 40-45% should work. I can't imagine the shipping on the TL iron would be more that from the US though.

I live in Broken Hill, Outback NSW. Putting together the Budget 300B amp and bought the Edcor Iron, which cost a fortune in AU Dollars. Freight was $580 US, so $1,684.30 AU all up. You can get Hammond transformers from https://www.evatco.com.au but the choice is limited for other brands

I have completed the KT120 monoblocks using the Thermionic Labs 230v transformers and chokes - it cost 90 Euro to ship from Greece (to New Zealand), and I found them very easy and helpful to deal with.

My KT120's are new stock with the 'getter splash' over the seams, but I'm running them at 95ma with no apparent overheating - and they sound great - https://www.skunkiedesigns.com/forum/show-and-tell/kt120-monoblocks-build

I found a guy with some KT120 stock from 2017 and earlier. They seem to have the getter flash off-centre to the seam but still overlapping maybe 30% at a guess so I grabbed a pair.

You wouldn't happen to have put together a drawing of the chassis cut-outs by chance? Cheers Adrian

Sorry, no drawings - and I'd have to dismantle to take measurements now 😉. I used leftover 5mm aluminium sheet and kwila decking for the chassis, and laid one out pretty much as Skunkie did, then copied that layout to the other chassis.

Do you know if there is any of that pre-2017 stock available?
