Hi Stephe, just wondering if when you built your 834 clones, you had tried the Loesch Thorsten modification which supposedly, eliminates the “rumble filter” (?).
Honestly, these sound so good using good coupling caps and high quality silver mica caps in the RIAA (110pf and 330pf), I haven't messed with them. I do use a 0.15 cap after the first tube rather than a 0.1 or 0.12 some folks use. I also ensure ALL resistors are in spec, the ones that come with these boards sometimes have some that are way out of spec!
I’ll be building one soon and may try the build as the circuit is intended - but with upgraded parts, then later, try eliminating the “rumble filter” to compare..
